I am a fully qualified counsellor trained to Advanced Diploma level and an accredited member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). Since qualifying I have worked in the voluntary sector and I also have several years experience of working with young people in a school setting. I adhere to the BACP's Ethical Framework of Good Practice.
I am a Person-Centred practitioner and as such I aim to help create a safe and accepting relationship where you can explore your feelings freely. I see counselling as a collaboration between client and therapist. I’m also very influenced by the ideas of mindfulness based practice in stress reduction.
I believe that we all have resources which enable us to live more fully and freely. My role is to help you discover them.
In working together we will collaborate on what area of work will feel most helpful to you whether that means focusing on thoughts and behaviour, examining the past that may have brought you to this place or simply providing a relationship where the hurts and injuries you have carried can be brought out into the open.
In therapy I feel that the relationship is crucial and it's therefore very important that you find a therapist that is right for you. May I take this opportunity to wish you well in that endeavour.
